Overview

Unibet is a Swedish-origin brand now owned by Kindred Group, one of Europe's largest gambling operators. It's been operating since 1997 and has quietly built one of the biggest game libraries available to Irish players. We scored it 8.2/10, placing it seventh in our rankings.

The story with Unibet is one of contrasts. The game selection is genuinely excellent, with over 5,000 titles available. That's the largest catalogue of any casino we review. The platform is well designed, the mobile experience is good, and the live casino, powered by Evolution, is packed with tables. On paper, it should rank higher.

What holds it back is the bonus structure and customer support. The welcome bonus comes with a 50x wagering requirement on certain elements (though the UKGC's 10x cap applies to the main bonus funds), and the support team is harder to reach than at top-tier competitors. These aren't dealbreakers, but in a tight field, they're enough to keep Unibet in the middle of the pack.

Game Selection

This is Unibet's strongest card. Over 5,000 games from a massive roster of providers including NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, Microgaming/Games Global, Red Tiger, Yggdrasil, Play'n GO, Big Time Gaming, Thunderkick, and many others. It's the most diverse game library we've tested in the Irish market.

Slots alone number in the thousands. Every major franchise is here: Starburst, Gonzo's Quest, Sweet Bonanza, Gates of Olympus, Book of Dead, Mega Moolah, Big Bass Bonanza, and deep catalogues from all the major studios. If a slot exists, Unibet probably has it. The progressive jackpot section is well stocked too, with Mega Moolah, Divine Fortune, and several provider-specific progressives all available.

The live casino runs over 500 variants through Evolution, which is extraordinary. Live blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, and game shows are all represented in depth. You can find tables at almost any stake level, and even during off-peak hours, there's always activity. The game show section (Crazy Time, Lightning Roulette, Monopoly Live, Dream Catcher) is fully represented.

Table games beyond the live section include extensive RNG blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, and niche options like Sic Bo and Caribbean Stud. Unibet also offers virtual sports and bingo, adding further variety.

The main issue isn't what's there, it's finding it. With 5,000+ titles, navigation matters. Unibet's filtering is decent (you can filter by provider, game type, and popularity), but it could be more granular. A "new releases" section and personalised recommendations help, but browsing can still feel like searching through a warehouse.

One standout: Unibet offers Mega Moolah, the largest progressive jackpot in online gambling history, alongside Divine Fortune and several other networked progressives. Average Mega Moolah payouts sit around €6.7 million, which is the kind of number that keeps jackpot hunters coming back. The jackpot section alone is worth exploring if big-pot progressives are your thing.

Bonuses and Promotions

New Irish players at Unibet can claim 200 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza after depositing and wagering €10 on slots. There's also a 200% match deposit bonus up to €100 (deposit €50, play with €150).

The catch is in the wagering terms. Unibet has historically applied higher wagering requirements than competitors. The bonus elements carry specific conditions: the free spins winnings and deposit match are subject to wagering before withdrawal. Under the UKGC's 2026 rules, the maximum wagering requirement is 10x, which applies to the bonus funds. However, the free spins component has its own terms, and the overall package is more complex than what you get at Paddy Power or BoyleSports.

Only debit cards and instant bank transfer qualify as deposit methods for the bonus. If you deposit via PayPal or Skrill, you won't be eligible for the welcome offer. That's restrictive and catches out a fair number of players.

It's a puzzling decision. PayPal is one of the most popular deposit methods among Irish players, and excluding it from bonus eligibility creates unnecessary friction. Unibet isn't the only casino to do this, but it's disappointing when competitors like Paddy Power accept all methods for bonus qualification.

Beyond the welcome offer, Unibet runs daily challenges, free spins drops, and occasional cashback promotions. The loyalty programme isn't as visible as at 888 Casino, but regular players do receive personalised offers.

Payment Methods

Unibet accepts Visa and Mastercard debit, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Trustly (instant bank transfer), and standard bank transfer. EUR is the default currency for Irish accounts. Credit cards are excluded.

Deposits are instant for all methods except standard bank transfer. Minimum deposit is €10. The Trustly option is particularly useful for Irish players who prefer bank transfers but don't want to wait 1-3 days. Trustly connects directly to your online banking and processes the transfer instantly, combining the security of bank payments with the speed of e-wallets.

Withdrawals are middle-of-the-road. PayPal and Skrill processed within 24-48 hours in our testing. Debit cards took 3-5 business days. Bank transfers took 3-7 business days. Nothing notably fast or slow, just average.

The KYC process was straightforward. Documents were reviewed within 24 hours. There's no withdrawal fee from Unibet's side. The minimum withdrawal is €10 for most methods.

| Method | Deposit Time | Withdrawal Time | Min Deposit | Fee | |--------|-------------|-----------------|-------------|-----| | Visa Debit | Instant | 3-5 days | €10 | Free | | Mastercard Debit | Instant | 3-5 days | €10 | Free | | PayPal | Instant | 24-48 hours | €10 | Free | | Skrill | Instant | 24-48 hours | €10 | Free | | Neteller | Instant | 24-48 hours | €10 | Free | | Trustly | Instant | 1-3 days | €10 | Free | | Bank Transfer | 1-3 days | 3-7 days | €10 | Free |

Mobile Experience

Unibet's mobile app is available on iOS and Android, and it's one of the better combined (sports + casino) apps we've tested. The casino section gets its own dedicated tab in the navigation, and the game browsing experience on mobile is clean and responsive.

Games load quickly. The live casino works well on mobile with stable streams. And the sheer number of games available on mobile matches the desktop, which isn't always the case with other operators.

The app also offers push notifications for promotions, quick deposit/withdrawal access, and integrated responsible gambling tools. It's well built.

The mobile browser version is also good, though the app is slightly faster and smoother. For most players, the app is the better choice.

The app supports biometric login (Face ID and fingerprint), which is a small convenience that adds up when you're logging in multiple times a day. Push notifications for new promotions are available if you opt in, and they're not overly aggressive about frequency.

Customer Support

This is where Unibet loses marks. Live chat is available, but not 24/7. Hours vary but are generally from 9am to 11pm. Email support is available around the clock, with response times of 4-12 hours during our tests.

There's no phone support.

When we got through to live chat, the agents were helpful and accurate. But the wait times were longer than at top-rated competitors, averaging 4-5 minutes during our tests. One test at 10pm on a Saturday had us waiting over 8 minutes, which is too long.

The help centre is extensive and well-organised. Unibet has invested in self-service, which works for common questions but falls short when you need human help urgently.

The chatbot that fronts the live chat is hit-or-miss. For simple queries like "what are the bonus wagering requirements," it can pull up the right article. For anything more specific, it tends to loop you in circles before offering to connect you to a human agent. Skipping the bot and going straight to "speak to an agent" saves time.

Responsible Gambling Tools

Unibet provides responsible gambling tools including:

  • Deposit limits: Daily, weekly, monthly
  • Loss limits: Configurable periods
  • Wagering limits: Cap total wagering amounts
  • Session time limits: Alerts and automatic session ends
  • Reality checks: Activity summaries during play
  • Self-exclusion: Through Unibet or GamStop
  • Time-outs: 24 hours to 6 weeks
  • Activity statements: Downloadable gambling history
Kindred Group, Unibet's parent company, set a public target of deriving zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2026. They've invested in AI-based player monitoring tools that flag potentially problematic patterns. Whether you agree with the approach or not, it shows the company is taking responsible gambling more seriously than some competitors.

Unibet holds a UKGC licence and has applied for a GRAI licence. Kindred Group also holds MGA and Swedish Gambling Authority licences.
